Wow! I had forgotten I had started this blog! I am excited about finding it again! In case you are just finding me...My name is Kristi and I am a mommy to two now! I have a 7 (almost 8!!) year old and a 3 year old. The last five years have been a whirlwind! I have quit teaching! This was so stressful for me, but once it was over it was so much of a relief!. I had no idea how much stress I was carrying with that job. When I started it I loved it and it wasn't a burden. However, once my kids appeared, my priorities changed and it just seemed like an obligation instead of a passion. I now work as a waiver support coordinator for people with mental and physical disabilities. I love this job as it is flexible enough I can spend lots of time with my kids doing homework, trips to Disney, going to practice, cooking dinner, etc. I am also able to keep up our house and other obligations that were being pushed to the side du...

Okay guys...I am so sorry it has been such a long time since I have checked in with you. I have been completely overwhelmed at work and then my daughter got the flu. Who gets the flu in the Spring/Summer? We do! Anyways, things are settling back down into the whirlwind that is my life at the end of the school year. Kids are freaking out about their grades, parents are freaking out about their kid's grades, administrators are freaking out about who is and is not going to graduate, etc. All this has led me to need my workouts even more! I have finally finished week 5 of my C25k training, but I am no where near ready for my 5k! I still can't run 2 miles without stopping. Part of that, I believe, is the heat. My opportunity to run is in the afternoon between 3:30 and 5. This is almost the hottest part of the day, so I am spent when I finish my run. In addition to my runs, I am trying to add some p90x workouts into my routin...

So...I totally have gotten off of my schedule thanks to the beautiful wedding of my Brother and sister-in-law. It monopolized my time from Thursday-Sunday. However, Monday was my own fault. :( I am getting back in the routine today though. I am repeating Week 4 of my program b/c I am so not ready for week 5. I need to get back into it before I move on. Hopefully, due to my unexpected hiatus, my shins and calves will have healed and can now take the pounding I give them. :) Yay ME!!
Oyy! My aching...

I made an attempt yesterday on my 'rest' day to take my dog for a run. I just played it by ear since it wasn't a scheduled run day so I adjust as necessary for each of us. This idea was a smashing success...for my dog. However, I wasn't even able to run a consecutive mile b/c I was being dragged, pulled, and generally manhandled every time a car, person, or possible noise grabbed the dog's attention. He was a great companion though b/c I never was able to slow down, unless I jerked him to a stop. He was so tired that, for once, he slept all night with no interruptions and I had to wake him up at 7am to let him out. With some tweaking this can be a great bonding moment for the two of us, but I hope it doesn't affect the instances when Mark tries to walk him. Hehehe!
Oh how I have missed you!!!

Well, I apologize for ignoring you these last few weeks. I am sure everyone is waiting with baited breath to hear how my running is progressing. Sorry to disappoint, but it really isn't. I took a couple of weeks off for unmentioned reasons. While scrolling through FaceBook (while I should have been running of course), I came across a post by Couch25k. They advertised that they had an app for iphone. I checked it out and decided that I wanted to try it. I fell in love instantly. The fact that the app times you and verbally tells you when to switch from running to walking and slowly, week by week and day by day increasing your distance run and decreasing your walking time is amazing! I am hoping they come out with an app soon for marathons or 1/2 marathons as well. I am up to week 4 now. Today I will be jogging for 3 mins, walk for 90 secs, jog for 5 mins, walk for 2.5, jog for 3 mins, walk for 90 secs, jog for 5 mins. (s...
Push Through the Pain

So, I ran yesterday. Well, I ran a little. My foot (the right one) and legs are just too sore. I guess I am going to be forced to do what all of the training guides say and run one day and walk the next. Today though, I am going to push through the pain and do my three miles! I was thrilled with myself Monday, only to be highly disappointed with my output yesterday. Another issue/question to my fellow runners out there...when do you get your energy back? I have cut waaay back on soda so that my body will be more hydrated for my runs (drinking water, and lots of it!). I am running and feel good right afterwards (endorphins I am told), but my extending energy throughout the day is gone. I am ready to go to bed at 8 with my toddler and sleep until at least 8 the next morning. I have created a habit where I go to bed around 9:30, not nearly as late as I once stayed up. I sleep until about 5:30 when my hubby's alarm goes off. That is a ...
