Update
Okay guys...I am so sorry it has been such a long time since I have checked in with you. I have been completely overwhelmed at work and then my daughter got the flu. Who gets the flu in the Spring/Summer? We do! Anyways, things are settling back down into the whirlwind that is my life at the end of the school year. Kids are freaking out about their grades, parents are freaking out about their kid's grades, administrators are freaking out about who is and is not going to graduate, etc. All this has led me to need my workouts even more! I have finally finished week 5 of my C25k training, but I am no where near ready for my 5k! I still can't run 2 miles without stopping. Part of that, I believe, is the heat. My opportunity to run is in the afternoon between 3:30 and 5. This is almost the hottest part of the day, so I am spent when I finish my run.
In addition to my runs, I am trying to add some p90x workouts into my routine. I really like the plyometrics and the kenpo karate. These incorporate cardio and strength training. I desperately need the strength training as I don't have time for a gym. In my quest for weight loss I have been told numerous times that if I incorporate this into my weekly routine the weight will come off more easily. I have not been so successful at the p90x yet, but I am getting there. My ultimate goal would be to do p90x in the mornings before work and run in the afternoons afterwards, however, I haven't quite mastered getting up at 5am so that I have time to work out.
On the weightloss front, I have currently lost 7.1lbs. I was running, at a minimum, three times a week, and losing no weight, but some inches. However, I discovered another phone app (I know, I rely way too much on it!), myfitnesspal, where I log calories and workouts. It takes your current weight, age, gender, height, goal weight, and weekly 'to lose' goal and gives you your daily calories goal. This way I can keep up with what and how much I eat, and how working out balances it. Trust me, you think you are making good eating decisions until you start looking up the calories. I have never been so disgusted with myself! The last two weeks I lost 2.5 and 3 lbs respectively, however, I did poorly this week. I ate Latinos Y Mas one day and another I just let my cravings take over and went over my calories goal. So, with today left to go, I have currently lost 1.8 lbs this week. Only like a million to go.
Anyways, now that I have completely updated you on my progress, I can move on now. I will be more diligent at checking in so you can keep up with me! :)
